Do You Have What it Takes to StartUp in Seattle?

Sure, we're an easy going bunch of liberals in Seattle, but that doesn't mean we can't throw a punch in the professional arena. In fact, the widely spread rumor that Seattle is care-free and easy going, leads so many would be entrepreneurs into the illusion that getting their startup going in Seattle will be a slice of pie. And honestly, it could be that easy, and often is for those adventurer's who get themselves a startup coach, though for the 92% that do not, Seattle's tides can be absolutely brutal.

And it's no wonder the waves are so fierce, when you look at all the entrepreneurial competition you'll need to watch out for around the sound. Every day, the big businesses of our metro area, lose motivated employee's to the lure of entrepreneurial adventure and the potential to achieve your passion. Just a few of those big companies are Microsoft, Nintendo, Amazon, Boeing and Starbucks - all who churn out individuals with a plethora of untapped talents and skills, that refuse to be silenced.

You might even be one of those people, so you will know exactly what I'm talking about, and you probably already recognize the significance of your situation. Any entrepreneur in this town, is up against a slew of competition from geeks, freaks, gurus, pro's and the radically innovative, at minimum.

No Need for BIG Corporations

You know, I was thinking out loud about something this evening, and it was such an inspiring thought, I wanted to share it with you.

What if we stopped creating super conglomorate corporations that take over and monopolize various industries?

What if instead, those of us who want to build epic businesses, build up our ventures to the point of being Medium sized businesses?

The idea behind those questions, is that if we were to take a more entrepreneuristic approach to business, is that if we refrained from creating huge corps, we would maintain a balanced and diverse economy. If each founder brought a business to the point of having a successful 3 to 5 locations or outlets or offices, and then that founder settled that business into a steady process with management and supervision, they would then be free to go back into the market and create a new business to do the same thing with.

Basically, what I'm suggesting, is that we should all become successful serial entrepreneurs. Not only does it carry the allure of plenty of variety, but it serves a worthy purpose in our beaten down economy. With businesses working on the quality of what they provide to people, and not the quantity PLUS a bunch of kick ass entrepreneurial leaders opening up new and radical businesses, then more JOBS and OPPORTUNITIES will be laid out before us.

It would be like a smorgus board of gourmet opportunities. It would be EPIC. Think About It.

    What is Life Coaching?

When you hear the word coach, what image instantly goes through your mind? That’s right, Sports! A coach is someone who calls the shots. He lays out the plan, tells you exactly what to do, and barks at you until you get the result.

So when people typically hear the term, Life Coaching, for the first time. You can imagine a billion questions suddenly poking their minds. Life Coaching? How does that work? Is it similar to how they people are coached in sports teams? Wait, isn’t that like counselling or therapy?

Today we will shed light to what Life Coaching is really all about. If you have questions similar to what was previously mentioned, then you came to the right place.

    What is Life Coaching?

Life coaching, simply put, is a method of helping people identify and achieve their personal goals.
You may think, “Okay. So it is similar to coaching then? As in, coaching in sports teams. He/she guides the team in achieving their goal. The coach strategizes the plan, tells you what you need to do, and barks at you till you get it done.”

The straight answer is no. Life coaching works very differently from how sports teams are typically coached.

Life coaches work under the belief that the solutions come from you. At the end of the day, nobody else knows more about your life than you do. Life coaches are simply trained to have a thorough understanding of how the mind works. They help you direct your thoughts , gain a deeper understating of what drives you, and align these to achieve your goals.
This is very different from how a sports coach is expected to operate. The assumption is that they have the knowledge, and they have the solutions. And therefore the strategy, the goals, and the directives come from them.

Life Coaching… is that like counselling or therapy?

    How Acidic Are You?

It my personal belief that balanced diets should be taught as early as possible, by both parents and educators. Eating and Exercising are two of our most vital activities, and they are often the most neglected subjects when it comes to education.

    What's Your Emergency Strategy?

All too often, when we get excited about starting a business, we sit down and we plan out all the fine details, like how we will succeed or how we will have so much fun with their clients and customers.  We make strong goals and smart decisions, and planned for the fruitful games we intend to receive from our business, yet how many of us, on day one, sit down and write out an Emergency Strategy?
You know what I'm talking about.

I'm referring to those times when the rent is due and there hasn't been enough income to cover it.  That time when one of your kid receives an unexpected injury, or another family member gets ill, and you suddenly need to put all your funds into their health.  I'm talking about those moments when and if you're just a step away from the cliff of bankruptcy or eviction.  Basically, anytime you might be derailed by an unexpected event, qualifies as a business emergency.

Anytime something unexpected happens, the only way to ensure that you will be in control of the circumstances that play out after the unexpected events, is to have an emergency strategy or two or three.

    Think about it.

What's the only thing that is worse than a big problem?  I'll tell you what's worse, having a big problem in being confused, unfocused or unprepared.

A Letter to My Best Friend’s Boyfriend...

One of my fantastic readers found herself in the peak of inspiration the other day, while talking with a friend of hers, and she sent me this letter that she wanted to send to her best friends boyfriend. After reading over it and LOVING every bit of insight she wanted to share with this lucky guy, I asked her if I could share it with everyone, because it is a great guide to understanding women.

Take what you will from this letter, but if nothing else, be inspired to reach out to your direct community of friends and family. The more we reach out to each other, the strong our bonds become and the richer we grow, from all the positive vibrations that radiate between us.

     =======================================================

(all names and locations have been changed to protect the privacy of the people involved in this story)

A Letter to My Best Friend's Boyfriend

    Dear Nick,

Jen and I have been friends since the day we learned how to read the word “dog”. I mean, we practically grew up together. I was there when she lost her first front tooth in 1st grade. I was there when she danced to “Stop” by Spice Girls during the talent program in third grade. I was the one who accompanied her to the girls’ bathroom the day she got her first period. I was the first person she called after her first date with the sophomore guy she met at the school library and later became her first boyfriend. And I was also the first person she called when they broke up two months after.

I was with her, ever present during those medium-awkward to major-awkward moments of her life. I’ve seen her rise and soar like Boeing 747. I’ve seen her break and fall like Icarus. I’ve seen her fall in love with that guy, and with that other guy, and another. But with all honesty, I’ve never seen my friend THIS happy. No one ever made her feel the way she feels when she’s with you. She need not tell me about it (Yeah, like she hasn’t told me a million times already!). Her eyes tell the truth. The way they glow gives away everything.

Success is Only 10,000 Hours Away!

Less than 10k hours actually, if you've already been plugging away, gaining achievements towards your goals and passions.

I recently published an article on Knoji, about this very subject, and I wanted to empower you with direct access to that article, to help you gain ground on those 10,000 hours.

    10,000 Hours to Success
It Only Takes 10,000 Hours to become Successful - which is only 3.5 years (give or take) if you go by 8 hour days (it's only 1 year and 52 days if you worked all 24 hours like a crazy person!). It may seem like a long time from the starting point, but when you stop and think about it, what have you been doing with the last 10,000 that has not created the success you want in your life?

    3 Hours...

I'm sure I'm not alone in experiencing those times in a relationship, where no matter what you do you just can't seem to get it right, and regardless of your optimistic presents an unconditional love, it just seems like it's time for a relationship fight.

You know what I'm talking about.  That's those times when your partner just wakes up on the wrong side of the bed, and there is nothing you can do or song you can sing, to bring them out of that mood until after you've had at least a small confrontation.

Personally, I believe this is just part of the healthy nature of any strong relationship.  That sometimes we just need a little variety, and often times a relationship is the first place we seek to find it.  Though it for the most part you relationship to his based from mutual respect and positive perspectives, than when it comes time that you are your partner have reached your limit for certainty, that little "10%" that I've talked about in previous posts, is going to be the days when it's just under fight.

Now I'm not suggesting that you should actually type of your partner, at least not that you should get all aggressive and pull ucture big red clown gloves.  Instead, I suggest you follow a tactic that I found to be quite effective to get through the turmoil tornado that your spouse or significant other seems to be going through.

    I call it, " 3 hours."

Sabotage By Loving Intentions - Has this ever happened to You?

Have you ever experienced a time in your life, when you were just so thrilled and excited about an idea you had, a business you wanted to start or even a special someone with him you wanted to join in a romantic partnership, but your dreams were suddenly dashed by the loving intentions of someone who cared for you?

Big Enough to Fall Apart - Does Jamie Dimon need a Strategy Coach?

I was recently reading through the business news section, when I realized that there is a ton of bad PR going on about JP Morgan Bank. Now, while I am no fan of the actions taken by the massive monopoly bank in recent decades, I'm also not the type of person to look at anything and assume that mistakes were actually nefarious actions taken to be purposefully negative.

If I'm going to make any judgements without really knowing someone or the situation of their business, my first judgement is always going to be that all people make decisions from a place of good and loving intentions, even if it doesn't appear that way to everyone else. That being said, the mistakes being made by Jamie Dimon and his staff (of all levels) are great examples of how even the worlds most successful people can stumble when doubt creeps upon them.

Has Facebook Become the Anti-Social Network?

In the last few months the famed social network Facebook has cracked down on socialites everywhere. From business owners who want to network, to people who just like to know people all around the world - people are complaining all over about the Facebook Friend Request Bans going on.

If you've just found yourself banned for the first time, which should be for 4 days, then you're probably confused and a little pissed - which is understandable most of your friends requests were to old high school friends or just to some new people in a facebook group you connected with.

Even worse still, is when facebook suggests friends FOR YOU, whom you've never met, and then they BAN you for accepting that invitation. Why send friend suggestions then? Has the facebook server been hijacked by some anti-social Zuckerburg alter-ego or is this just a cruel experiment?

Not my favorite part... but somebody has to do it!

There comes a time in all of our lives when we've become familiar with using negative emotional patterns to get through life. Most of the time this happens subconsciously through neuro-associative conditioning, and it's rare when I'll work with a client who can truly pinpoint where it was that the conditioning took place. And usually, it's more than one event anyways. There's the trigger event and then multiple subsequent events that took place to reinforce those negative patterns.

And it is usually these negative patterns that lead us away from setting potent goals and bring us down into our worst emotional cycles of depression, anger and disappointment. Once you've achieved that state in your life, where every action seems pointless because no matter what you do, you find yourself confronted with more and more PAIN, it becomes increasingly difficult to see that a life full of PLEASURE is only a simple change away. It becomes excessively unclear that you have everything inside you that you need to change your own condition and thus, the condition of your current circumstances.

I've been there as well, and I understand exactly what happens, not just from a coaches point of view, but from personal experience. Though my personal experiences will not ever be as challenging as my experiences in coaching those whom have found themselves repeating those negative cycles.

It's more challenge mostly because I don't like to see those I care about suffer. That's why I became a coach, to help people alleviate their pain and suffering as much as they will allow themselves to do so. It sucks to watch someone spiral down and down and to realize that as their friend and coach, there is only one thing left to do - AGREE WITH THEM.

Yes life does suck. Sometimes it's icky, sticky and painful. Other times it's disappointing, confusing and horrific. We don't have control over what anyone else does, thinks or feels and because we can only control ourselves, that sometimes leads to unintended circumstances that can throw us off balance.

I tell you what though, thinking about life in that way has never done anyone any good, and it can be proven that thinking about life that way actually brings about even more negative conditions in your life. Though for some people, the only way out of that pattern, is to go even deeper into it. So deep that they are forced to realize that whether they give up or push forward, they are responsible for everything that happens and if they don't want to experience even worse pain, they are going to have to give up the game and accept that responsibility.

I don't like being the friend, family member or coach that has to sometimes say to the people she cares about, "Everything WILL get worse, IF YOU STAY IN THAT NEGATIVE EMOTIONAL PATTERN." That being said, I LOVE being the person who then gets to see my friends, family and clients transform out of their negative patterns and into the stronger, truer and more authentic human beings that I already knew they were, even before they ever believed it. =)

    Coaches who don't listen....

I was browsing one of my favorite linkedin coaching groups the other day, and I found it highly interesting to see that many potential-clients and soon-to-be-coaches were asking all sorts of insightful and earnest questions, and even though their questions were clear as day - just about every coach who gave an answer, refused to answer the question directly. On one particular thread, a in a small country where coaching is scarce, a person asked how they might help themselves define the industry of life coaching in their own native lands. The person clearly stated that there were no accredited colleges, schools or teachers in their area, nor was their any need for a regulating agency. This person also had plenty of years of amateur experience, and really didn't have a big need for anything formal. What this person most directly wanted to know, was how they could get started as a life coach WITHOUT getting a formal education. Basically, this person wanted to know how to bootstrap it.

Would you believe it, but just about all the "coaches" who replied to this thread, made sure they all left the querrent with plenty of links to accredited online colleges that didn't not work with people in the querrents native country. Those that didn't commit the obvious fallacy of not reading the whole question, each left their email or other contact info, clearly ceasing the opportunity to hopefully gain an international client in need of setting herself up.

The Difference Between Successful and Unsuccessful People

This common question is one of my favorite philosophical ponderings. I really don't feel that the question can be fully answered, though throughout time our kind has managed to gather and in depth perspective that comes pretty close an answer. Though truthfully, I feel its the inability to truly define the answer that makes it such a great question - its value is not in the final answer itself, its in the evolution of the answer over time, by each philosopher who deems themselves courageous enough to add their own essence for the next philomath to consider...

And now its my turn, to leave my insight for you, the next philosopher, to stop and ponder. Will you leave my words as they are, quoting them to others... or will you add your own essence to mine before you leave?

Either way, here is what you really came to read - The Difference Between Successful and Unsuccessful People.

Dread - Have you ever thought about how it can hold you back?

Being up all night for tooth pain sucks, but as the man in the Hanged Man card reminds me, "no pain, no gain". With this pain I'm suffering with through my soft and broken teeth, I've come to recognize one of the biggest things that has ever held me back.

    DREAD

    Maybe you can relate?

Have you ever felt like you were on the verge of a breakthrough or almost to the point of succeeding, and you KNEW that help or achievement was right in front of you, but you held back?

You let that quiet voice in your head whisper to you, "what if it doesn't work?"...."what if no one can help?"..."what if you'll be stuck forever?"...what if..what if...what if...

That's what dread does to us. It creates an environment conducive to our worst fears. And once we let that dread take over, we hesitate, procrastinate and often give up.

I am no stranger to dread, as much as I sometimes wish I were... and tonight as I finally started my first crowd sourcing fund raiser, I realized that I've got to knock dread out of my vocabularly...

The fund raising effort I started, wasn't to get my coaching business of the ground as I had hoped.. instead I found myself full of dread as I told my terrible teeth story and asked for compassion from anyone who could give it.

And I tell you what, I almost didn't finish that raise or post it. Not because I don't need the help, but because I really detest asking for that kind of help. I fought with the part of me that yelled "your such a wuss! There are people dying of hunger and you're asking for help with your teeth?!"...

I warred with the side of me that said, "what will my future clients think? When they find out where my worst fear of being rejected even more because of my teeth?"

I found with that cruel and doubtful side of me that said, "what if no one cares?"

But then, another side of me came and spoke above the rest without shouting. Its the side of me that is wisest, and the part of me that loves coaching. It simply stood out and said, "Remember, every failure gets you closer to success. Besides, if I don't try, how will I know what will happen?"

Its that side of me I'm following through the embarassment, pain and fears, and its that side of you that I would like to help you find too.

Send me a message or find me on live person and let's bring out the best in you too.

Postive Focus - Restoring Your Faith in Humanity

So often we over focus on what is wrong in the world, which leads us to miss out on what is RIGHT.

Former Neighbor - New Found Friend

I believe there are no coincidences in this world - and as of yet, I have failed to find any situations that were merely "coincidental". Now, part of that is because of my belief system, a part that works for me, and part of that is simply synchronicity. I leave myself open to all opportunities and I while out making myself available to the universe, I try not to waste the opportunities presented to me.

Yesterday was interesting in need, in the ways the universe shares it's abundance with me - or maybe the way I accept it? I'm not quite sure yet. Either way, I'm sure you remember a previous blog post a few days ago, where I was talking about my former neighbor, whom I had learned had moved away when no one noticed, broken up with the man who still was my neighbor, and she continued to come up to north Seattle from 45 minutes away, EVERY morning.

Now, there were several pieces of her story that I just did not understand, so if it was confusing for you to, at least we're in the same boat! So when she sent me a text, asking if I was going to be out for my now regular morning constitution and if she could join me, I was more than happy to accept. Not only did I want to know more of her story, but it's nice to have company when you're out on a walk.

    Upgrade For The Valero

This morning I want to tell you another little story about an important person in my life. For anonimity purposes, we'll call her "Mrs. Smith", and she is a local gas station/convenience store owner. Mrs. Smith is an amazing person, and let me tell you why. She moved into my north Seattle neighborhood and took on an old dead Texaco store front that no one had wanted or cared about for more than 15 years. Though we in the neighborhood had been crying for some sort of gas station to come back to that spot, as the only other stations around were across Aurora or at least 5 miles away down to 155th. It may not seem far, but when you consider how many of us have to get our kids to school and then zoom off to work in the mornings, the convenience of saving 15 to 20 minutes make a GREAT difference.

So one day the old Texaco started to transform, and everyone took notice (especially the man who owns the 711 franchise on the same plot), and within less than a month - we had a brand new teal and white Valero convenience and gas station opening up. Now on this date, she's been there for over a year and although she's struggling, the gas station is doing very well - nearly eclipsing the popular 711 in everything but high schooler sales (I guess they prefer 711? lol).

In any case, against several odds, Mrs. Smith took on one of the greatest challenges a person can take on - opening a new and necessary business in a neighborhood still on the decline in population. You see, our quaint little neighborhood was hit big by the baby boom, but the echo boomers have pretty much fled, and the pre-boomer generation has most left this earth or moved to various care facilities - which only leaves behind the urban families and singles that took over their family homes (like myself) or moved here because of the small location near the big cities. And we have had plenty of new residents moving into the area, but with the fall of the baby boom, there just aren't enough people migrating into the area to keep up economic value that we once had.

    Debt Collectors need Life Coaches

You know, I've always found debt collection agencies to be a very interesting form of work. Here are these agencies who are trying to make money by holding people responsible for their own poor spending choices.

The problem is, the people they are trying to collect from are either temporarily incapable of summoning up the resourcefulness to change their present circumstances so that they can pay off their debt - or they are just willfully igoring those debts to pursue other needs.
I know this because aside from formerly being one of those people, I also know that when we are resourceful and focused enough, we pay our bills, and there's no reason for debt collectors to call resourceful and responsible people, is there?

Still though, I absolutely love sitting back and examining how I used to look at the letters, how I used to listen to the endless voicemails and argue with collectors over phone, email and any other way they could annoy me. I love to think about it, because from my current point of view I can now recognize exactly where they are going wrong in their strategies.

You see, if there is one thing I learned in my time of debt, its that anyone can OUTLAST a debt collection agency. Hell, I watched one small bit of debt travel from company to company, sometimes those debts would even change from debts into credits as certain companies were found to be using unethical and unlawful methods of debt and data collection. Can you believe that? Several debts I used to have, were completely wiped from my slate, simply so those debt collection agencies could having to pay ME $20 to $40 bucks!

Of course, had I and the other thousands of people suddenly become responsible and ethical ourselves, those companies would still be in business and would not have ever had to think about any shady practices.

The truth is the truth on that one, no matter how you throw the dice. Another truth here that I feel is so valuable that it might just land several debt collection companies on the Fortune 500 list if they read this blog and take advantage of this opportunity I'm offering.

    Transformations Can Go Either Way

You know, one of my favorite topics to chat about, are the people in our lives who are no longer in our lives. And I don't mean those people that pop in and out, I mean the people that literally DISAPPEAR from your REALITY. Have you ever stopped to think about the people who disappeared so completely from your life that all you can remember is the shirt that guy wore, or the strange way you met that interesting woman?

The only thing more interesting than thinking about the people that have been wiped from your reality, are the rare occasions when they come back into your reality from out of no where.

This morning was one of those days for me. I had spent all night last night studying up on my new Ultimate Edge Kit from the Anthony Robbins Institute and was putting my new knowledge into practice. Just as Tony suggested, the first thing I did this morning was change the way I got out of bed in the morning. This will be a great story for any of you whom think I've ever been trying to portray myself as perfect - because far from that, my life has just as many issues as the next person. The only difference between my life and those whom have yet to develop an Epic Strategy with me, is that in most I choose the Quality of my Challenges, instead of letting my challenges choose me.

The Vital Difference Between an Internal Dialogue and an Internal Monologue

Here's some mind candy for you to suck on; have you ever stop and examined the little voice that travels around you in your head?  Better yet, have you taken the time to examine your relationship with the voice in your head?

My bet is that you probably have won a mild level, the liqueur the average person, it isn't likely that you spent more than an hour two in your entire lifetime, examining the conversation going on in your own head.  Now, personally, I don't blame you for ignoring that task, as it can sometimes seem very intimidating an overwhelming to try and understand yourself.  Though even though I can empathize with you, that doesn't mean that I'm going to encourage that you continue to hesitate this examination.

Especially if you plan on being anybody worth a snuff in this world.

I DARE YOU - To Make a Million Dollars

Seriously, I DOUBLE DOG DARE YOU to make a million dollars for yourself.

And NO, I'm not just going to leave you hanging with that dare, while you try to figure out "how" to make a million. Everyone is trying to figure out how to make a million dollars, and clearly trying to figure out how really doesn't get anyone anywhere.

No, this challenge is specific, exact and easy - yet NO ONE has accomplished it yet. Which means that along with making $1,000,000 - you'll also set a world record (I'll even personally let the Guiness Book of World Records know when you've achieved this challenge!).

Wanna know what else you'll get? (as if all that money and fame weren't enough!)

You'll also get to meet AT LEAST 1 million people. I'd say you'll probably meet way more than that. Which means you'll make more connections then you've ever made, and I would bet at least half a million dollars that along your journey, you'll meet at least a dozen people who you'll connect with in that way, and you'll impact each other in indescribable ways. Maybe one of those people will be the angel investor you need for your start up. Maybe it will be your knight in shinning armor, or your perfect damsel in delight. It could be that person older man or woman who seems to take up half your day standing in front of their doorway, telling you a story that turns out to inspire you to completely change your life. You never know who you'll meet in this world - until you meet them.

So how's that for a build up? From this dare you get Fame, Fortune and Wisdom - all from one dare.

I must warn you though, before I hand you your strategy - that this is clearly no small feat, no matter how easy it may be. Should you accomplish what has yet to be accomplished, you're life will forever be changed - whether for bad or for good, that will be up to you when you get there.

So here it is, your strategy for making 1 Million Dollars:

5 Simple Ways You Can Improve Your Life, Business and Relationships with Poise, Humor and a little bit of Drama

There are some strategies in life that work no matter what your issue, goal or motivation is. They are often the simplest, most obvious techniques - yet so many of us overlook them, undervalue them or take them for granted.

Well I'm here to encourage, no, Demand that you open yourself up and take advantage of some tips so simple that huge multi-national corporations like Disney have made billions of dollars from them, as have many of the worlds most successful people. You can use them in your personal life, intimate relationships, business, school and in your parenting style - they work no matter where you apply them.

    Tip 1. Smile!

I know it may seem silly, but what most of my clients need most are "smiling lessons". As adults we often get so caught up in our minds that we over-focus on work, stress and responsibilities. Because of this, we tend to develop perma-frowns, where we are forever frowning or we have these apathetic expressions plastered on our faces. I had this problem myself (and still do sometimes!) and I will tell you that one of the single greatest tips I ever developed or brought into my coaching practice - was learning to smile.

And no, I'm not just talking about smiling when something is funny, or when you're happy or saying "cheese" to the camera. I'm talking about learning to smile most of the time - on the phone, when writing emails, when conversing with your clients, when you're working on a project and when you're by yourself. You see, smiling is a powerful thing, and even though it might not seem like much at first, within a short while you'll soon find that you are more attractive to everyone around, you'll become a magnet of abundance - on all personal and professional levels of your life. Truthfully though, the best way to find out if I'm right, is to try it out. In fact, I DARE YOU to prove to me that it doesn't work!

Tip 2. Meet People At Their Eye Level

There was recently a news story about how high level corporations and business were taking advantage of customer service coaching from Disney's consulting firm. Hospitals, restaurants, car dealerships and even airlines took advantage of Disney's wisdom, which in nearly all cases included learning how to meet people at their eye level.

This is another powerful tool, because when you meet people at their eye level, you automatically send the subliminal message to them that you are their equal. You are neither above nor below them, making you neither their superior or inferior - which quickly develops a unique rapport with them that you can't develop in any other way.

A great example of this is with children. All to often we adults find ourselves tower over the "little people" as we try to teach them self-discipline, life skills and try to help them avoid the mistakes we made. The only problem is, not only is it hard for a child to listen to someone so far above them, but it's hard for us to communicate with anyone we are literally looking down upon. So when you bring them up to sit eye level with you, or you get down onto their eye level, not only does that automatic rapport open up with them, but you'll naturally find yourself better able to listen, respond and effectively communicate with them.

This is a tip that I use consistently when helping my clients overcome parenting issues, dealing with problems in the workplace, developing strong professional relationships, providing superior customer service and in learning to negotiate. It's a small skill that goes far.

    Tip 3. Colors Matter

    Follow The Metaphors

This is the first in a series of hubs and blogs I've decided to cover. You see, metaphors are one of the most uniquely human aspects that we can attribute to ourselves, and they are often the very key to improving, healing and finding a path to success.

Not only that, but this is great information for any of you readers who are hoping to become a life or success coach yourself - the key is ALWAYS in the metaphors we use.

In this hub, I go into some detail about the Metaphor of "Crazy" - which is commonly confused with or the culprit cause of depression, mental instability or extreme anxiety. If you or someone you know has been trying to cope with feeling crazy, the first step you can take to help yourself or your friend/family member, is to understand the metaphor.

    Business Advice From Disney?

Hospitals, Car Dealerships and Teachers are all turning around their client satisfaction and retention with some simple and at times silly advice from the Disneyland Institute consulting department. A Florida hospital took their tips to heart and hired a Uke player to bring up the fun atmosphere in their care facility, and taught their staff to be more present with adults and children who come into their hospital. The famous Chevrolet even received some lessons in flamboyance and showmanship (who would've thought Chevy would need those lessons? lol). Teachers all over the nation are taking advantage of the knowledge of Disney as well, and are making marked improvements in childhood education, simply by taking on such tips as "getting down to eye level with children" and thinking of work as "being on stage" a well known theatre metaphor. And it's not just teachers, car dealers and doctors who are taking advantage of this "new" education - Haggen-Daz, United Airlines, Subway, Hair Salons, Youth Centers and the NFL - have or are currently getting on board with the Disney train.

And why not? If it seems to be working for everyone else, then why not jump on the bandwagon?

The only problem, is that Disney being Disney and having no need to cater their services to any one particular type of business, has no reason to provide discounted or reasonable services to small businesses who could benefit from their consultations the most. Not only that, but Disney prefers high profile accounts, and because of that, their aim is to play with the big boys of the consulting world.

    So what's my point?

My point is this - everyone should have access to the power that Disney has harnessed, and they should not have to pay through the nose to get it. The great thing about this POV, is that I already know all the tricks and tips that Disney could ever offer to a business and because I feel that YOU should have access to EVERY tool available - I can provide you with the same wisdom, cheerfulness and exuberance that Disney could ever provide.

So if you need a boost in your Marketing campaign, a new perspective for your Business or a jump in customer satisfaction - you don't have to pay the price of a high profile brand to get what you need - all you need is a Strategy.

Staying On Top of Your SEO Game - Google Goes Penguin

If your business revolves around the use of online marketing, content creation or publication, then you'll be one of the first who will need to create a quick strategy that helps you quickly adapt to any changes made by the creators of the Google-Rhithms.

    Mother's Day..... Are you ready?

May 13th is Mother's Day. That day of days when we are obliged to share in all the joy that is motherhood, but pampering and pleasuring the mother's in our lives (and ourselves if we are moms too!). Yet, year after year, I see so many husbands, daughters and sons who just aren't ready until the weekend in question has already come upon us.

And I have to say, that is just sad! It should be super easy to plan a wonderful day of mom loving activities and to get a few items that mom loves. For all the years she put up with your butt, one day a year should be nothing!

Still, with all the rest of your life not letting up, I can understand that we all need a little help. A leg up or a few tips. Thankfully, I've got just that for you - because as a professional Strategist, it's my job to make sure you've got EVERY aspect of your life handled, including how to praise your mother =)

So why no take mom out to one of these great Seattle Mother's Day Adventures

Or why not an Extraordinary Mother's Day Brunch aboard a Yatch?

Of course, an evening out at a Mother's Day Fashion Show isn't a bad idea either, especially if you're mom loves to be in the "fashion know".

If you're feeling more like Tea and something Educational, why not take a trip to the Ceder River Watershed for some saucy slideshows about where we get our fine Seattle water, while you enjoy some snacks and hot caffeinated beverages?

Although... I'd never be opposed to a professional massage.. and I'm confident the mothers in your life wouldn't either, so why not check out some of the Mother's Day Massage Deals like this one.

Regardless of what you decide to do, just make sure you spend some time with Mom this Mother's Day weekend, and let her know how much you really appreciate all she's done for you (like giving birth for starters!).

    Putting Sex on Hold

One thing that I have found most useful, is helping my clients to change their perspective and set their focus. It's a powerful thing to do, though not always an easy one. Our perceptions are set subconsciously, which can make them difficult to change. Though often, it can only take a millimeter of a change to create exciting and formerly impossibly changes.

This hub author Lisa Maki, does a superb job at exemplifying the "Success Mindset". Her heartfelt story is not one that many would be brave enough to share, but I'm glad she did, because there are no greater examples of just how powerful you can become when you change your perception and set your focus.

SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) Legislation Triggers Global Protest — Wikipedia and Other Major Websites Plan Shutdown

Part of being a successful person, is learning how you can make an impact on your community, culture and country. And the truth is, whether you take action or not, you will impact everyone for all time to come. If SOPA passes, your freedom and everyone elses will be dropped down to zilch, taking away so many powerful tools (such as link sharing in blogs like this!) and take away more opportunities for you to be successful.

If SOPA fails, we'll have to find a way to enforce current plagerism and piracy laws WITHOUT constitutional amendments, draconian bills like SOPA or taking away the freedoms of the majority to protect the minority.

If you're unfamiliar with SOPA, please take a look at the hub down below by LHwritings.
